Summer Sunshine

There has been no trace of summer and very little sunshine so far this April, but I call this piece Summer Sunshine anyway. The color reminds me of everything summery: white-hot sun, flowers, bumblees...

The yarn is vintage.  Picked it up for $5 from a person who was de-stashing her yarn collection.  The yarn label has a pattern on it for a Disco Bag (which I may make, just for the fun kitschy-ness of it).  Based on that label pattern and the gold color, the yarn is probably from the 60's.  It washed up just as soft as ever!

They've re-issued this yarn in a modern color palette, and I couldn't resist getting some in hot pink.  I've started on a summer dress with that stuff.  I'll have a show n tell in a couple of days, once I get the bodice together.

Now

Today is so fabulous outside that it feels wrong to keep it all to myself.

After work today, I pulled out the cushions for the outdoor sectional my husband built last year.  It is absolutely the best place to relax in the world.  (other than a beach, but those are few and far between where I live.)

Behind the deck is our storage shed.  My husband built that too.  Isn't he amazing?

I also put the tablecloth out so we can eat dinner outside this evening.  No idea what dinner will be yet, but at least we will enjoy it outside with the birdsong.  I miss the birds so much during the winter months.

In the basement, I found the bag of spring bulbs from last year.  I totally forgot to plant them last fall and they began to sprout in their plastic bag!  Potted them up anyway.  Keep your fingers crossed that its not too late and these colorful pots might soon contain a hyacinth and four daffodils.

I left a little of the sprouted part out of the potting soil.
Good luck little hyacinth!  I have no idea what I'm doing.

This pile of delight on my lap is almost ready for show n tell.  It's a spring tunic top.  Should be finished by tomorrow.

The weather forecast for the rest of the week is dreary.  Dropping temps each day, lots and lots of rain, and ending the week with a chance of snow.  Yes, snow.  In mid-April.  At least it won't stick.  I know we need the moisture after last years drought, though, so I won't complain and I'll soak up as much sun as I can today while it's shining.  :-)
